Privacy notice

1. What we hold
Your name, email address, password in hashed form, and the university, course, college and entry year you give us. The offer document or membership evidence you upload for verification, together with a fingerprint of that document. Your messages, posts, listings, reading lists, checklists, society applications, and, if you opt in, your dating preferences and the people you liked or passed.
2. Why we hold it
To decide whether you are a student or offer holder at one of the universities we serve, to run the parts of the service you use, to keep the service safe, and to answer complaints.
3. Verification documents
An uploaded document is stored with restrictive file permissions and is deleted once your verification is decided. What survives is the decision, the fingerprint that stops the same document being reused by a second account, and the name of the reviewer.
4. The dating feature
Taking part is optional and is off until you join. Preferences you set there can reveal information about your sexual orientation, which is special category data, and we rely on your explicit consent to process it. Leaving the pool deletes those preferences and every like and pass attached to your account.
5. Who sees what
Other verified members see your name, university, course, entry year, and anything you post. Nobody sees your verification document, your reading progress, your checklist ticks, or your dating preferences except you. We do not sell data and we do not share it with your university or college.
6. How long we keep it
Verification documents: until the decision is made. Account data: until you delete your account. Moderation records and reports: two years after the report is closed, so that repeat behaviour can be recognised.
7. Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, correction of it, deletion of it, or restriction of how we use it, and you can withdraw consent for the dating feature at any time. Deletion is available inside the app under Delete my account. You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
8. Where the data lives
On servers in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area.
